2017 Salsa Winners!

Saturday was a beautiful day in Harbor Beach which drew a record crowd for the annual Salsa Tasting Contest. There were 10 salsa entries by local businesses and organizations. The 359 judges enjoyed sampling the salsa recipes and voted for their favorite.

The winners are:
1st Place – Sandmann’s Grocery
2nd Place – Smalley’s Bar & Grill
3rd Place – Harbor Beach FFA
The winner of the Salsa Basket was Brianna Geiger.

Harvest Festival

The 21st Annual Harvest Festival will be held September 16th in downtown Harbor Beach!

The Chili Cook-Off gets underway at 11 am and runs through 3 pm. Pick up your ballot and map at the Visitor’s Center for $3. Then wander through the downtown to tantalize your taste buds by sampling the various versions of chili. Return your ballot to the Visitor’s Center by 3:30 pm to vote for your favorite and be entered in a drawing for a fabulous Chili Pot. If you’d like to enter your Chili in the contest contact Jenny at 989-550-5165 by September 8th. Chamber members enter for free. Non-Chamber members pay a $25 entry fee.

The Pie & Dessert Contest is always a hit for those with a sweet tooth. If you love to bake, this contest is for you. Any type of pie and dessert can be dropped off at the Visitor’s Center between 10:00 and 10:30 am on the 16th. Following the judging, slices will be sold for $3 each or 2 for $5. The winners will receive Harbor Beach Bucks! Contact Diana at 989-479-3553 for more information.

The Murphy Museum Craft Expo is open from 10 am until 4 pm on the Murphy Museum lawn. All types of crafters, artists, and Farmers Market vendors are welcome. Call Jean at 989-479-5023 to register. Remember it’s never too early to begin Christmas shopping, and this event is a wonderful place to start and find those unique gifts.
