Meet and network with Chamber members and community leaders at special events and monthly business meetings. Many new business opportunities can be developed through the relationships that are developed at Chamber events.
As a chamber we try to keep the money flowing within the community and make those dollars work for our community.
Many members of the community consider Chamber membership to be a sign of a reputable, stable business. We receive phone calls each year from individuals checking to see if a business is a Chamber member. When you join the Chamber, you will receive a Chamber decal for you to display so that those visiting your business will know you are a member of the Chamber. Our website lists only those businesses that are chamber members.
The Chamber heightens your company’s visibility through business referrals directly from the Chamber and its members. Members receive discounted and free publicity in the Chamber Newsletter and other publications. Your business brochure can be added to our visitor bags for free. We distribute over 1000 bags annually and only chamber members can participate. Members also receive discounted advertising in our Visitor Guides with over 12000 copies printed per year.
With your membership dues comes a free listing on our website directory of businesses. We welcome you to post your web address on your listing and put the Chamber’s link on your website. If you do not have your own website, we can provide a basic page for free! Our bluewater.org website allows tourist/recreation based businesses a free listing. This site is growing exponentially and had over 100,000 visitors this year. Being a member of the Chamber of Commerce shows your customer that you are committed to your community and that you are part of a larger network of businesses looking out for each other and ensuring each other’s success. The Chamber of Commerce is synonymous with quality and credibility.
We are a member-oriented organization; therefore, we only refer our members. We get calls from all over the county from people looking for a certain business or service.
Our membership is tax deductible plus you are able to take advantage of many member only cost-saving benefits. During these tough economic times we understand how difficult it is to invest in these types of activities. Because of this, we have reduced our rates this year and have an affordable semiannual payment plan. The organization is 100% volunteer based. Because of this, 90% of every dollar we receive goes toward promoting business and events in our town. Your membership helps pay for and promote programs such as Maritime Festival, Winter Festival, and Harvest Festival. Almost half of our budget is spent on advertising on such places as bluewater.org and michiganbackroads.com websites, radio advertising and print advertising
Small Business Advocacy
The Chamber has a special focus on the needs of small business. Our government relationships and connections help ensure pro-business legislation is taken seriously. City council members and the Mayor attend our monthly meetings on a regular basis. It’s your opportunity to network with government officials and tell them what’s on your mind.
