City Celebrates Lighthouse Transfer

Reserve Saturday, July 31st.....The Harbor Beach Lighthouse FINALLY and officially belongs to the City of Harbor Beach. After a dedicated effort for twenty plus years, the federal government has deeded the lighthouse to the city. Come celebrate with a chicken bbq and picnic on the beach, live music, remarks from visiting dignitaries and maritime speakers in the theatre. The festivities begin at 11am under the tent and continue until 4pm. The maritime speakers include Dennis Hale, the sole survivor of the sinking of the Daniel J. Morell and Ric Mixter on Saving the Lighthouses. Saturday, July 31st will also mark the debut of the Harbor Beach Lighthouse tours. If you have never been, or even if you have, join us for the first public offering of tours of our lighthouse.
